Chanting the Gita
Thursdays
July 2 – August 6
8:15 – 9:15 PM

Develop a permanent connection to the beauty and energy of this sacred text. The Bhagavad Gita one of yoga's most beloved texts, is full of moments of insight, wisdom, and beauty. Some say the essence and meaning of the Gita are best understood through chanting since the vibrational quality of the original Sanskrit takes the practitioner beyond literal meaning. These sessions will be led through call and response, and copies of the Bhagavad Gita written in phonetic transliteration will be provided, so there's no need to have an established background in the language. This series will definitely deepen your practice. It might even change your life! With our dear Zoe Mai. $42 for the series or drop in, $10 per class.

Yoga for Living: A Special Series for People Affected by Cancer
Every Tuesday in July
5:45 – 7:15 PM

This series is devoted to those going through treatment, those who have completed treatment and for caregivers affected by a loved one’s illness. Fine for beginners, people feeling well, and those not feeling so great, this class will take place mostly on the floor in Yin Yoga postures. Yin Yoga is slow and meditative, and allows for that reconnection with the body that so often gets lost during times of illness. Postures are held, sometimes for minutes, to create an opening that allows for reflection and stress release. If appropriate, more active poses may be interspersed for strength and confidence building. The series will offer opportunities for each individual to express “what’s happening now,” in terms of their personal relationships to physical, emotional, mental and spiritual sensibilities, allowing each participant an active role in the evolution of a healing practice. Instructor: Candace Bozart. $60. Pre-registration and payment by July 2. Call 856.858.9642.

Into the Groove: Yoga Music Series
Every Tuesday in July
7:30 – 9:00 PM

Join music moguls like Russell Simmons, the Beatles, Sting, and Madonna, along with Master Yoga Teachers like Sharon Gannon, David Life, and Shiva Rea in realizing that yoga and "real life music" really can mix! Each of these Vinyasa Flow classes will go with the vibe of the music of the week:

  • July 7: Flow with the Fab Four
  • July 14: The sweet beats of hip hop
  • July 21: Rock and Roll past and present
  • July 27: Positive vibrations with Bob Marley and sons
Sign-up for one, two, three, or all four classes: $15 per class or $55 for all four classes; $12 per class for undergraduate students with ID. Pre-registration and payment required! Call 856.858.9642. Instructor: Rachelle Damminger.

Mysore Ashtanga Yoga Series

or

6:00 – 8:00 PM

Six Consecutive Thursdays

6:00 – 8:00 PM
or

Thursday Mornings
August 13 – September 17
6:00 – 8:00 AM

Experience the traditional practice of Ashtanga Yoga as it is still taught today in Mysore, India by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. In Mysore classes, students are taught individually in a group setting. Beginners are introduced to a set sequence of poses little by little and are encouraged to remember the sequence as they progress. The consistency of the sequence allows students to focus on the sound and rhythm of the breath rather than on the voice of a teacher, making practice a moving meditation. As students practice and advance through the Ashtanga sequence at a pace that matches their individual needs and abilities, they receive individual instruction, hands on adjustments, and personal attention that is hard to find in a regularly led Yoga class. Instructor: Zoe Mai. Due to the intimate nature of this style of instruction, class size is extremely limited. Classes will be held upstairs at Yogawood. Pre-registration and payment by August 8. Cost: $108. Call 856.858.YOGA.
